Mac Technology Association - Privacy Policy

The Mac Technology Association will endeavour to keep all information we collect about your private or personal details confidential. The following document forms our policy on handling your information - please read or print it for your reference.

How do we collect personal information ?

We collect information from you:
  • when you register with us to get your dealership listed on our website
  • when you make an enquiry about any of our products or services
  • when you apply to become a member of the Association
  • when you request information about any other aspect of the Association's activities or services

To save you time and make our website services easier to use, when you originally log-in with us you will register a username and password on our servers. By using these next time you log-in to our website, we will not require you to re-enter your details, and you will automatically be taken to the correct range of information pages relevant to your membership status.

When do we disclose personal information ?

Because the Association is constantly in negotiation with suppliers and providers of services that could be of interest or benefit to our members, we may occasionally pass your details on to other companies for them to contact you about these negotiations or offers to you. These offers will also be publicised on our website and also communicated direct to you by the Association. If you would rather we did not pass on your details to third party companies, please let us know.

In addition, we may supply just the relevant personal information about you or your company to other service-related companies, for product shipping and delivery services for instance. In these cases, your information will be governed by the policies of the company concerned.

In line with all other holders of such data, we will also comply if we are ever required by law or legal process to disclose your personal information, and we may also disclose information about you if we believe that disclosure is necessary for the public interest.

How do we protect your information ?

The Mac Technology Association safeguards the security of the data we hold about you with physical, electronic and managerial procedures. We advise you to take basic precautions in protecting your personal data when you are on the Internet by changing your passwords often, using a combination of letters and numbers, and making sure you use a secure browser.

Can you access the information we hold about you ?

Every registered user of our website can access and view their data by logging on to our site and going to your 'my info' link. Here you can view, edit or delete the information we hold about you, and these changes will automatically affect all other database info we hold. If you are not a registered user, please contact us by email to request copies of any information that we may have on file if you believe we hold any.

Do we collect any other information ?

When you browse the Association's website, you do so anonymously. Your browser does not tell us any personal information about you, and we do not request any, apart from telling us the type of computer and operating system you are using.

Currently the Association website does NOT use “cookie” technology, although this is planned in the future. We will update this policy accordingly at that time.

You will see in most of our emails to you - and throughout our website - we use "click-through" URLs which will take you through our web servers to another Web site that is the relevant destination for the information or service you are seeking. We will track click-throughs to help us determine the overall interest in any particular information or service.

Our general privacy commitment

The Mac Technology Association web site has links to the sites of other companies. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to research the privacy policies of those companies.
